Cody McCasland Shines For CAF

Cody McCasland, one of our favorite XTERRA WETSUITS athletes, paid a special visit to the XTERRA WETSUITS headquarters in San Diego today! Cody is a double above the knee amputee and spokesperson/multi-year grant recipient from the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Cody trains and competes in various athletic events and is an inspiration to others, including military who have returned home with amputations. Cody is in town to speak at the Triathlon Club of San Diego monthly meeting this evening with other CAF athletes. Thanks for stopping by, Cody!

Pro Team Kicks Off 2010 In Style

Congratulations to Chris Lieto for earning second place (1:48:00) yesterday at the Miami International Triathlon, his first race in his XTERRA WETSUITS Vendetta triathlon wetsuit. Feeling strong and relaxed after the swim, Chris went on to break his own bike course record by one minute, clocking 52:58 in the 40K leg.

Yvonne van Vlerken of the Netherlands and Australian Carrie Lester also kicked off their 2010 season in Velocity triathlon speedsuits by XTERRA WETSUITS at the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. With temperatures raising to over 100 degrees during the bike and run, Carrie placed fifth (7:23:04), while Yvonne was close behind in seventh place (7:26:05). Yvonne had a tough race and lost several minutes after a wrong turn on the run, but it's great to see Yvonne racing again after a stellar close to 2009 with a win at IM Cozumel. Congrats to both on top 10 finishes!

Our own XTERRA racing superstar Renata Bucher also sported her Velocity triathlon speedsuit on Saturday when she defended her Saipan Championship title in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. This was Renata’s sixth straight win and her 20th career XTERRA championship win since her first in 2005. Congrats on yet another victory, Renata!

It's going to be a great 2010 for the XTERRA WETSUITS Pro Team!

XTERRA WETSUITS at the Desert Triathlon

Both wearing Vector Pro X2 triathlon wetsuits by XTERRA WETSUITS at the Desert International Distance Triathlon in La Quinta, CA on March 7, Bill Jones and Tim Ray were first and third out of the water overall, respectively. Bill, a former Harvard swimmer, clocked a blazing 13:50 for the 3/4 mile swim, while Tim, a former Naval Academy swimmer, was close behind exiting the water in 14:34. Both Bill and Tim competed in the collegiate division for the University of California San Diego.

We are proud to be the official wetsuit sponsor of the Desert Triathlon. The Tri Club of San Diego and LA Tri Club, two of the world's most prestigious triathlon clubs, battled at this race to be DUEL IN THE DESERT champion. XTERRA WETSUITS has sponsored both clubs for years, and had an overwhelming presence at the race.

We also support Exceeding Expectations, a program in the San Bernardino School District that serves an inner-city population and is designed to encourage at-risk kids to move their lives in a positive direction, using the sport of triathlon as the vehicle. They had a great showing at the Desert Tri as well.

Congrats to all who competed!

XTERRA WETSUITS at IM New Zealand

Jim Lubinski was the only male American professional racing Ironman New Zealand last weekend. Swimming in his XTERRA Vendetta triathlon wetsuit, Jim exited the water in 1:02:29 and finished the race 9:55:30, making him the 12th pro to cross the line.

Peter Wood of La Jolla, CA added to his long list of victories at IM NZ. In the 65-69 age group, he was first out of the water in his XTERRA VENDETTA triathlon wetsuit and won the top spot, good for a slot at the 2010 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Congratulations to you both!
