“Cold feet” is nothing more than a figure of speech when you own a pair of LAVA Booties. Made of 2mm 4-way stretch neoprene, these booties are form fitting and insulating for cold water swimming.
Flex panels on the top of the foot and above the heel allow for comfortable movement while durable stitching holds the bootie in place. The ergonomic textured outsole provides stability and traction aboard wet surfaces and helps to protect your feet in rocky waters.
We suggest you wear your Lava Booties as tight as possible to prevent water pooling at the toes. They will be quite snug when putting them on, but will expand in the water.
LAVA Booties sizes are based on Men’s Sizes, though the booties are unisex. There is an approximate 1.5 size difference between Men's and Women's sizing (e.g., a men's size 7 is roughly equivalent to a women's size 8.5).
To put on a pair of Lava booties (neoprene socks), follow these steps:
It's important to make sure that your neoprene socks fit properly and are not too tight. If the socks are too tight, they can restrict your movement and cause discomfort. If the socks are too loose, they can bunch up or fall down, which can be frustrating and hinder your performance. Adjust the socks as needed to find the right fit for your feet and lower legs. Given the choice between tight and loose, remember that your lava booties will expand about a half-size in the water so they should be snug when you first put them on.
Love the lava booties. Perfect for cold water swimming or for swimming in rocky fresh water for foot protection and minimal drag
Work great. Nice traction on bottom. A little tough to get on - but they should be so snug fit in water. One trick - pull wetsuit legs OVER the bootie - so as you swim it's streamlined and 'tucked in' - first cold water swim I did there was gap between suit and bootie - and bootie edge caught some water. Tucking bootie under wetsuit leg solved the problem :)
I recommend these highly. My shoe size is between 9 and 10 sometimes 10.5. I purchased a size small and a size medium because I wasn't sure which one's I would like more. I actually liked the fit of the small better, but the medium would have been fine too. I just went swimming today in water that was around 50 degrees. I double layered these (small first, then the mediums over that). I couldn't feel the water temperature on my feet whereas my bare hands were really cold. As soon as I got home, I ordered three more pairs. Next time I go swimming, I will try this with a single layer and try to remember to report back about how that felt with cold water.
I love my booties for winter ocean swimming in Florida. My friends and I wear your lava booties with our Churchill pro fins to keep our feet comfortable and extend our swims in colder waters. I highly recommend them.
